Local MP Justin Tomlinson has met with the charity Young Enterprise to discuss ways to combine business challenges with sport in order to spark entrepreneurial spirit.
Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading enterprise and financial education charity reaching over 250,000 young people every year. They work to give young people the opportunity to learn more about business and experience what it’s like to take on the challenge of entrepreneurship.
Justin has previously worked with Young Enterprise as part of his successful efforts to add financial education for young people to the National Curriculum; meaning today thousands of children learn about important issues like calculating interest, understanding mortgages & ensuring they have the most information available as a consumer. The North Swindon MP has also worked with Young Enterprise & other organisations to run a Dragons Den-style challenge for students at Blunsdon Market.
During the meeting, Justin & Young Enterprise’s Chief Executive Michael Mercieca discussed the potential for a new challenge for students in Swindon linking sport & business. The challenge will give young people the opportunity to learn about marketing, business planning, and selling a product.
Justin Tomlinson MP said: “I was pleased to be able to sit down with Young Enterprise again to discuss exciting plans for a challenge which will mix sport & entrepreneurship. From our previous collaborations, we’ve helped educate & inspire, and I know that this latest project will be incredibly popular. More information will be available very soon!”
