Swindon Advertiser 08/11/10...

The classic underdog tale of Supermarine and the change in fortune for Town have set every football fan’s hearts aflutter with the hope of more to come.

Football fanatic and North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson was at the Supermarine’s history match at the weekend and is ecstatic with both victories.

He said: “It’s an absolutely fantastic result for the club. It’s the biggest day in the Supermarine's history and an absolute financial lifesaver.

“I have watched thousands of football matches in my lifetime and yesterday has to be one of the most nail biting matches I have ever watched.

“I’ve got my fingers crossed that the two Swindon teams can make it in to the third round.

“I would have loved to have seen the two Swindon teams draw each other.

“I’m a huge football fan and I try and watch as many Supermarine and Swindon Town games as I can. I’m really chuffed that both teams have made it through, you can't beat the FA cup.”

Town now face a trip to Blue Square Premier outfit Crawley Town in the second round of the FA Cup.

Danny Wilson’s side have been drawn away at the big-spending non-league side.

Supermarine have been rewarded for their FA Cup heroics with a trip to League One high-flyers Colchester United.

Justin Tomlinson MP, "I was delighted to not only see this fantastic match, but return to the clubhouse to watch the FA Cup draw live.  Whilst ideally I was hoping for the two Swindon teams to be drawn together, Colchester away is still a fantastic draw.  Colchester are one of the biggest teams in the 2nd round, a fitting reward for this amazing cup run.  In addition the gate receipts in the FA Cup split, it will be a much welcomed financial boost for the club.

"With the club facing real financial problems in the summer, this fantastic cup run will have helped clear the club debts and help the club build for a brighter future.  I just hope both clubs can make it into the FA Cup 3rd, come on Swindon Supermarine and Town!!!"
