Swindon Advertiser Column - Overwhelmed With Happiness To Welcome Little Clemmie

On Sunday, Kate and I were overwhelmed with happiness to welcome Clemmie Elizabeth Tomlinson to our family. I am in awe of Kate as Clemmie was delivered just 4 minutes after we arrived at the GWH, with only 2 paracetamols for pain relief! We are very grateful for Maria and her team who delivered Clemmie safely, far better than I would have had we been either stuck in traffic or not able to find nearby parking! We are thrilled that Margot is very much enjoying a big sister and has been very k...

Queen's Speech Continues To Deliver On Government's Top Priorities

Today the Queen’s Speech set out 38 new Bills for the upcoming Parliamentary session, helping to ease the cost of living, strengthen our economy and make our streets safer for everyone. As a country, we have risen to challenges with no precedent in recent history – leading the response to Putin’s attack on Ukraine and protecting lives and livelihoods in the battle against Covid – but these events have caused huge disruptions to the global economy. Currently shops can stand empty for years, blighting the high street and wasting opportunities for new jobs. New legislation will enable local leaders to force landlords to rent out commercial properties, revita...

Swindon Advertiser Column - UK Continues To Stand With Ukraine

Earlier this week, our Prime Minister became the first world leader to address Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, via videolink, once again expressing the UK’s firm commitment in supporting the brave Ukrainian people in their fight against Russia. The Prime Minister saluted the bravery and stoicism of the Ukrainian people and their fearless leader President Zelensky. Echoing words from Winston Churchill’s famous war-time speech, he said that this was Ukraine's finest hour - their courage...

Justin Supports Bowel Cancer Awareness Month

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson is supporting Bowel Cancer Awareness Month this year and attended a Parliamentary drop-in event at Westminster, hosted by Bowel Cancer UK. Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK with nearly 43,000 people diagnosed every year. That means every 15 minutes someone is diagnosed with the disease. Sadly, more than 16,500 people die from the disease each year, making it the UK’s second biggest cancer killer but it shouldn’t be as it’s treatable and cu...

Swindon Advertiser Column - Childhood Cancer Debate Brought Unity To Westminster

It has been a busy week in Parliament. I was humbled to take part in the childhood cancer debate organised by Caroline Dinenage MP. The debate was inspired by 10 year-old Charlotte Fairall, who tragically passed away after battling a rare and aggressive cancer. Sophie’s family began Sophie's Legacy, which worked with Caroline Dinenage MP to bring about the debate and ask the Government to look at how we prevent, diagnose, treat and care for children's cancer. This was an incredibly moving and i...

Video: Justin Speaks In Chamber Regarding Fan-Led Review Of Football

Justin Tomlinson MP: Thank you Deputy Speaker May I also pay tribute to my fellow Panini sticker collecting Hon friend for Chatham and Aylesford, and for the fantastic work she has done and the fact there is a general consensus for the majority of those recommendations. But, we also mustn’t lose sight of the fact that the Premier League is the most successful league in the world, the Championship is the fourth biggest league and if MPs are the answer that fills me with trepidation, because ther...
