Justin Joins Bicycle Association To Get Children Cycling

North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson continued his work to get young people fitter and healthier at an event in Parliament to promote children’s cycling.

Justin joined the Bicycle Association and representatives from children’s organisations to support it’s ‘Back Children Cycling’ campaign, which aims to ensure that every child has access to cycling.

Research suggests that 1 in 4 children don’t have access to bikes, and just 22% of children in the UK cycled regularly last year, down from 27.5% in 2019. Cycling is a good way to increase activity in children and improve health outcomes.

The campaign is also calling for 0% VAT on children’s bikes – a move Justin is supporting.

Justin has long promoted sport and activities to get children fitter and healthier. His work has seen him support local organisations, such as Draycott Sports Camp and Evoke Gymnastics.

He has also campaigned for the money raised through the Sugar Tax be used to allow schools to open their facilities free of charge out of school hours and during the holidays.

Justin said: “Throughout my time as an MP I have worked very hard to get young people more active and enjoying sport. I was very pleased to be able support this campaign, which builds on the previous work I have done in the area.”
