Justin Tomlinson MP Received a fantastic welcome from Kingsdown School on his recent visit.
Head teacher Emma Leigh-Bennett, who took over the school 4 years ago, discussed the tremendous effort from staff and students to get the school to where it is now. As well as receiving the good Ofsted rating the school now sits in the top 2% of improved schools in the country, and has been shortlisted for the best improved secondary school in 2021.
The school is also using advanced technology to encourage students’ learning, with Smart Learning screens in every class and each student has access to their own personal laptop. The school has also been making use of VR headsets, which has been integrated into learning and helping children prepare for the future. Though silent reading still remains an important part of each lesson.
