North Swindon MP Jutsin Tomlinson visited Headstart Skillz Summer Camp to learn more about how it is working with local children. Justin was joined by Mark Draycott from Draycott Sports Camp, and local councillors Jake Chandler, Dan Smith, Matthew Vallender and Oladpo Ibitoye. A few years ago I met with Becky Maddern from Benjamin’s Smile to hear about her campaign to increase accessible play equipment in playparks. Her work has been inspired by her own son Benjamin and his disappointment at not being able to join his brothers and enjoy their local park. It was delightful to visit the volunteers at TGV in Bloom, who were inspected this week by judges for Britain in Bloom – part of the Royal Horticulture Society. As a community, Tadpole Garden Village will be competing with the village of Cannington in Somerset. The judges were very complementary of the community spirit in Tadpole, particularly with people of all ages volunteering to beautify the village and manage the local allotments. North Swindon MP has welcomed news that all state schools now have lifesaving equipment – successfully fulfilling the Government’s pledge to do so by the end of the school year. In July 2022, the Government committed to delivering these devices before the end of the 2022/23 academic year to ensure that all state funded schools in England had access to a defibrillator. This week my Summer Work Experience Program kicked off as we welcomed 11 students from Bradon Forest School and Highworth Warneford to the office for a week. The programme sees groups of young people, mainly aged between 16-18, join my office for a week. The goal of the programme is for the students to experience life in an MP’s office and better understand the work of an MP.
